You need to know how to get sound to your computer if you are using it to record. There are two options. Although a headset microphone is an option, it will not be as effective as one with a larger “diaphragm”.
You need to be aware that “plosives” can occur when you use a professional microphone. What is a plosive? A plosive is a strong burst in air that’s expelled when you say words with a “p”, or “b”. They can ruin recordings if your mouth is near the microphone. You can counteract this by using a pop screen or windscreen. This creates a barrier between you and the microphone, which absorbs this burst every time you speak a word that contains a “p”, “b”, or “b”. Pop screens are also known as a pop shield or pop filter. They are circular in shape and made of metal or nylon. They can also be mounted on a flexible “gooseneck”, which has a clamp that can be attached with a microphone stand.
A “tripod-type” miniature tabletop mic stand allows you to place the mic in front your computer while still being able to see it when you’re recording.
